Day 48

To continue the celebrations of kayley's birthday we went to santa monica. we waited for a very long time and ended up getting to sit on the top loft of hooters all because the guys up there were such pigs and would only allow a bunch of girls to join them up there. one of the guys ended up being superrrrr drunk and was hitting on amanda. great :) then we went on the pier and got ice cream and coffee bean then we watched the water and took pics and hung out with a clown. haha a mexican clown... the adventures of freshman year...

Day 47

It's Kayley's birthday! 

We confused her and made her stay up in the room thinking she was gonna eat at the caf like any other day. but kristen lindsey kelsey amanda and I went to albertos and bought burritos and rented a movie from redbox. then we "rented" out nikkis room in smith and watched the movie in there and surprised her. :)  Then we broke into the caf... ok not really broke into but walked into the caf and ate cereal at one of the tables.  sooner than later we figured out that we were most likely going to get in trouble for it... woops. then we went into the track after hours of it being open and spun around to get dizzy. perhaps we are 12? then we ended up playing boom chicka boom boom. interesting night for sure!

Day 46

It's St. Patricks day. not quite sure why everyone makes such a big deal about it. i feel like there isnt really a point unless you're irish. which i think i am... haha but also if you're 21, since it gives you an excuse to drink! wooohoo... too bad I'm still just 18 and not celebrating the holiday. Well today we got 6 preview students. all in our room. thats maybe a little too much. oh well. its always an adventure.

Day 45

Hung out with Michelle! So good! Went to try to figure out fundraising  

for spring break. Talked about her sick grandpa and how he isn't a 
believer and how she is struggling with that. Talked about our Mexico 

team for this year. :)

Turned in my class schedule for SA. Had academic advising.

Jars of clay came to play a short concert at school in the amphitheater.

Sunday Funday. or one of the most boring days to be living on campus. :)

Day 34

Just a normal boring saturday.  Went to the caf and got a 

little bit creative with my food and made cucumber and 

sour cream salad like mom makes at home :)

Day 33

Go lunch with Lauren Collins on cougar walk.

Painted more of the mural. Then painted hearts and put hand prints all  

over the study room with jenn Kelsey Amanda Kristen and Lindsay. Then  

we played splash water pong on Adams field. Everytime we made a shot  

into the cup we got to pour water on someone elses head. Before we  

could finish a game campus sacret sent amber the RA on duty to stop us  

from continuing. Then we started to play boom chicka boom boom. The 

passing of dance move around a circle game! This night was a lot of fun!

Day 32

Started the mural! Painted black border with Kelsey today. 

Peter finally understand we will never be more than friends!

Day 30

Busy day then Mexico meeting!!!!!! Soooo excited there are 14 on my
team. I'm returning back to una rosa with michelle and her new co-
leader Michael. The people that were on my team before include,
Michelle of course, ivy, catheryn, and Peter. The new members that
have been before are dani, priscilla, Sarah I think that's it. Then
new altogether are Kristi, Molly, Bethany, and Emily. There is another  
girl Christine that I believe has been before but wasn't there today.

Just a normal boring monday. Peter and i ended up hanging out super super late.

My Presentation for sociology class went really well! It was only  

technically supposses to be 10-15 minutes long but our presentation  

went for about 40 minutes. And it was us basically teaching and  

leading the class in discussion. Then I got dinner with Lauren Myers.  

I Skyped with Elle and my parents. Then me and Peter hung out we  

listened to an open mic night with Sam and Jon. Then we went up to the top of 
trinity and hung out.  While we were up there we just kinda sat in silence for a 
while and talked a little about life. What we want to get out of it.

Day 23

Classes, guest speaker in cmin, paid for GYRAD. Family dinner, kaleo  

was about mouths and how we choose our words and thoughts, then worked on 
our sociology presentation with Lauren.

Studied for my social work Midterm! Grace and i studied together for a  

bit and got off topic plenty of times! Later that night I studied  

again with grace Lauren and another girl from my class.

Earlier that day Michelle called me about Mexico and how we have the  

first all team meeting next tues night! Sooooo excited for that!! 

From 11 to 1245 Katie, Justine, and I planned and drew out a sketch of our  

mural for the year since we are part of the committee for westral along with Jessica.

Thrift store bike ride in the rain! went to glendale with kelsey, amanda, and lauren.  We visited kelsey's dad at the fire station, went down the pole and got an IV put in me.  Then went to a little cafe for junk food!

Today is thursday... it was quite the boring day.

Annie and i studied for our horrible psych class together on the third floor of adams.

Day 16

South Africa in the fall or spring? alpha or not? This is what my  

whole day was based off of! I got my financial stuff signed by SFS and  

turned it into the study abroad office. I think I finally decided that  

I'm going to go talk to Stacie champine and tell her that I am willing  

to give up my spot for someone else rather than me causing someone to  

be picked later on after I decide I won't go through with it. I feel  

that this will be the smarter choice. But I'm still questioning it and  

kaleo was all about Gods will and what direction we are suppossed to  

be going in. I think He will do a great job giving me a sign as to  

which direction He wants me to go in. I know that it's not up to me  

and I have no control. He is the one that has full control and 

everything is up to Him.

Day 15

I GOT ACCEPTED TO SOUTH AFRICA!!!!!! 

I got the email and I'm going to go study abroad to south Africa next year!!! I am so so so so excited that I get to go! This is gonna be one of the best experiences of my life! I cannot wait until the day comes when I get on that plane! So excited! :)

Day 14

Valentines day!

Normal boring class day. But Grandmanana called to wish me a happy  

valentines day! Watched the bachelor with the 4 roommates Kelsey,  

Kayley, Jenn, and Amanda along with others. Then Peter and I went out  

into the ampitheater ad watched the lion king. Then we layed there and  

just talked. He started to get pretty close and mentioned that he  

started to write me a letter but thought it was dumb so he threw it  

away. Haha cute! He really likes me which is scaring me a little  

bit since I know I can't like him.

Another good thig about today is I talked to Elle all day! Just like  

old times! It's really exciting it makes my day so much better!

Day 13

Kat tried to surprise me saturday night but I wasn't home so I went to her  

house and hung our with her and Jenna from LMU today. We ended up  

going to the outlet mall and shopping around. Then I went back to APU  

and got dinner, had a hall prayer night, chose where the mural will go  

for the Westral hall, had Chelsea and Lauren come play mad gab with  

us.  I also talked with Elle and comforted her with all she is going  

through and ensured to her that I am here for her with all my heart.  

Lauren Collins as well is going through a lot and I talked to her a  

little to make sure she was ok.

Day 12

Jacks bball game triple over time and he scored winning goal. Kevin newtons birthday party with lots of food as usual and the parents had a great time but I was only there for like 2 hours then... I got to hang out with love an we just drove like always and ended up going  to isla vista and got frozen yogurt. On the drive there she told me her whole story it honestly brought me to tears. It changed not only her life but mine as well...

Day 11

Nana funeral @ conejo mountain funeral stuff. Right above Grammy.  Buried double deep so uncle Joe can go above her.  A lot of family and friends came. It was wierd that my aunt Shelli came and was crying her eyes out and she brought her eldest daughter that he gave up for adoption an is now talking with her. My "new" cousins name is Michelle but her adoptive parents changed it to Tiffany.  After party was held at our house with lots of food!

Day 10

Got to turn in my personal statement late for social work class. Worked on my sociology homework and had class then I came back and packed to go home. Dad picked me up at about 9. Then got home and was greeted by everyone at home. I went through nana's jewelry and kept the things that I wanted to wear of hers. Then I hung out with the boys and hung out with mom and caught up with the family and stuff. Watched some American idol and then went to bed pretty early!

Day 9

Today was wednesday so of course there was kaleo chapel. This week they actually had "double kaleo" which was where they had it at 7 and at 9 pm.  Kaleo is my favorite chapel and almost always brings me to tears.  The music is always the best and it my favorite part of kaleo.  This chapel was specifically about the importance of rest.  That is why there is a Hammock on stage.  This semester kaleo is focusing on the book of James.

Day 8

Today was just a normal boring tuesday.  Jenn and i had dinner together than later on we started to catch up on the bachelor.  Jenn had stayed up all night the night before so she was falling asleep the whole time and we were all taking pictures! poor thing.  Nothing really exciting happened today.

Day 7

Today i have 2 pictures. this first one is because i started to get sick and was drinking tea all day.  Which in turn i had a stomach ache all day. I also decided to call grandmanana out of the blew and spoke with her for about 25 minutes.  We talked about all sort of stuff just like we always do!

Mom called at about 8pm and told me she was on her way to nana's becuase the nurse wasn't sure that she was going to make it through the night.  Then i called mom at about 8:45pm and she said that nana had passed and she was 15 minutes too late.  The fact that she didnt get back in time tore me apart.  I was really emotional and tried to keep myself together but it was really difficult to be ok.  Then my wonderful RA Sarah Etter, after asking me what was wrong and my non ability to find words for what had happened and  how I was feeling, figured out why i was in a sad mood came to me and asked if she could pray for me.  I said yes but requested that it was just us two during this time.  We ended us talking for about 2 hours and i cried my eyes out and talked everything out.  She prayed for me and it was almost the most powerful thing i had ever gone through.  She has such a gift for prayer and i really appreciated that.  It even brought her to tears as well which broke my heart.  Sarah was there to me my mother as i could not get to my mom and couldn't do anything about the situation.  I ended up throwing up later that night and having a really hard time sleeping but I was so lucky to have Sarah that night and I know that nana is in a better place now. R.I.P. nana!

Day 6

Today is Super Bowl Sunday! To wathc te super bowl we went to Sam Kemp's house and celebrated the day with him and his family!  His family is so sweet and his family friends were great as well.  The Packers took on the Steelers and the Packers came out on top! grean and yellow green and yellow! not black and yellow... It was a lot of fun and some great food and entertainment! The black eyed peas performed and it was so much better then the past couple of years.  We all got to play in the backyard as well and i got to show off a little bit! lol

Day 5

Today after shopping at stater brothers kelsey, amanda, and I went and saw my friend Ka'u and her mod.  It was so cute and we are so excited to be in a mod next year! We will be squishing 5 of us in one mod! ahhh! But we decided we really wanted to fit all 5 beds in one room preferably the small room and put all of our deswks in the other room! the top left photo is amanda drawing with stripper poles everywhere... uhhh. kelsey's is the top right and it includes Amanda's dog house in the back there.  The bottom is a combo of mine and kelsey's ideas.  We are all so excited to be living together next year!

Day 4

This morning i had a great dream! I was sitting in my public communications class and representatives from the Study Abroad office came into our classes and called up 2 girls to the front of the class and finally me while handing out letters to each of us.  I opened mine up and it said that i had been accepted to study abroad in South Africa for the spring semester!  This dream got me so excited for when i get to hear back from them.  I also applied to be an Alpha leader so we shall see what will happen!

Day 3

Today was most definitely a homework day!  I woke up went to my two classes in the morning took a nap and locked myself in my room to do homework all day!  I hadnt done my work for my sociology class that is from 4:20-7:20 and i had a pshychology paper due by 6 so i had to do ti before my class. It was a stressful homework day for sure!

Day 2

Today was just a normal day but I sat out on the side of Adams with Peter and he talked to me about how he was having such a good day.  This morning his mom called him and he told her about how he had been getting close with me and spending more time with me.  He told his mom about how i had told him that I dont want a relationship right now.  He also told her how we live far from each other since the summer is coming and how I am hoping to be in South Africa next semester so his intrest in me has changed and we decided to be simply friends.  The fact that he told his mom about our situation was so adorable.

Day 1

Today my application was due to study in South Africa.  I will hopefully be accepted to study in South Africa Fall of 2011.  Yesterday i also applied to return to Mexicali with my team Una Rosa for Spring break 2011.  We will but going with APU's Mexico Outreach down to Mexicali from April 16-22.  I actually had dinner with my Mexico team from thanksgiving break yesterday Jan 31st.  It was really great to get to see them all again and reminisce about the fun times we had while in Mexico together.
